My Students' Performance on Test Report: Performance by Roster Table

The Performance by Roster table of the My Students' Performance on Test report displays a row of data for each roster in which your students completed the given assessment.

If a student does not belong to any rosters, their test data will appear in a row for (Students Not in Any Roster).

To access the Performance by Roster table of the My Students' Performance on Test report:

On the Performance on Tests report for teachers, click an assessment name.

Table 4 describes the columns in the Performance by Roster table. The columns vary depending on the test. Adaptive test results do not include item-level data at this level. Summative test results do not include item-level data at all. In reports with item-level data, clicking the Standards Keys toggle Display Standard Keys toggle in the row of filter details below the report table heading allows you to view the standards for each item. Standard columns with standard measures appear only in adaptive test results. The same is true of the reporting category-level Weak or Strong? measure.

You can click the more information button More information button beside each key or set of keys to view a pop-up legend containing the full text of each cluster (category of standards) and each standard.

[Reporting Category]* (multiple columns)

Displays student performance data for each reporting category. Each column consists of multiple sub-columns, which may include the following:

  • Average Score: Mean average scores in the reporting category.
  • Performance Distribution: The percentage of students who performed at each performance level for the reporting category.
  • Weak or Strong?: You may want to identify strengths and weaknesses in different reporting categories so you can focus instruction on very specific areas where the most improvement is needed. This column displays icons indicating how students’ average performance on the reporting category compares with their average performance on the overall test. Note that these icons indicate only relative performance and not proficiency.
  • Item Numbers, Max Points and Points Earned: This sub-column is divided into further sub-columns. Each one displays the item number, below that the maximum score possible for the item, and below that the number of points earned for that item. When you toggle the report to show the standards to which items are aligned, standard keys appear below each item number. You can click the more information button More information button beside each key or set of keys to view a pop-up legend containing the full text of each cluster (category of standards) and each standard.
  • [Cluster]: A cluster of standards within the reporting category.
    • [Standard]: A standard within the cluster. Each standard contains sub-columns for measures:
      • Weak or Strong?: You may want to identify strengths and weaknesses in different standards so you can focus instruction on very specific areas where the most improvement is needed. This column displays icons indicating how students’ average performance on the standard compares with their average performance on the overall test. Note that these icons indicate only relative performance and not proficiency.
      • Proficient: This column displays icons indicating the average level of proficiency students have attained in the standard.
      • % Correct: This column displays the average percentage of points earned out of maximum points, adjusted for item difficulty levels. If a certain percentage shows weak performance that is statistically significant, the cell is highlighted and a warning icon Warning icon appears.
Writing Dimensions

  • [Essay type]: An essay type in the test.
    • [Writing dimension]: A writing dimension within the essay type, as listed in item rubrics.
      • [Point value]: A sub-column for each possible item point value for the writing dimension. Each point value sub-column displays the percentage of students who earned that number of points.
      • For each dimension, the lowest Lowest percentage arrow icon and highest Highest percentage arrow icon point values are sometimes highlighted and marked with arrow icons in the rows with the highest percentages. This allows you to quickly identify groups of students who are performing well and those who may need additional support.

Note that highlighting and arrow icons will not appear where they are not useful. A report containing only one row of data will not have them, and neither will a row in which the percentages are "n/a" or are all the same.

To learn more about highlighting and arrow icons, click the more information button More information button in the Essay header. A legend expands.

*For assessments without multiple reporting categories, this column is labeled "Total Items" and displays data for all the items on the assessment.

†There are four DOK levels that gauge how deeply students can grapple with the material:

Note that DOK 3 and DOK 4 are combined into a single level in reports. This is because DOK 4 applies only to writing prompts.
